No comics this week

Sadly this week will see no comics unless someone has a guest comic they'd like to submit.

Due to more pressing matters I can't work on the comic this week. Not a pleasant choice, but one that has to be made.

Securom failure

So today they released Fallout 3 in europe. Originally I wanted to buy it, I considered getting the collector's edition. But then I learned that it comes with SecuRom.

Those who are not familiar with it. SecuRom is a system designed to prevent piracy of games. But it does this by making legal versions of the game unplayable. Most notable for the recent Spore release. Which resulted in a lot of negative reviews.

SecuRom for instance refuses to install if you have programs like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% installed. These a programs designed for playing image files and the like. People who called the helpdesk were told to uninstall these programs. Sorry but, what I have on my computer is my business, not theirs. If I buy a game I expect to be able to play this without having to alter my system.

It's sad though, I was really looking forward to Fallout 3. No doubt I will actually play it. But sadly I won't be buying it. I refuse to support any game or company that utilizes SecuRom. Perhaps companies will figure this out some day. But until then, I'm not buying games.

Alright, enough procrastinating. Time to get back to drawing. I'll just continue the current story as if I was never gone! I will do my best to keep updating 5 times a week. If I find I can't maintain that I might go back to 3 times a week. But we'll see about that.

In other news I saw Babylon AD. Sadly I was dissappointed by this movie. Though I'm a big fan of Vin Diesel and his movies and he did play a decent roll here. The movie itself just didn't grab me. The biggest issue was that the world wasn't 'established'. I had no idea what was going on in this world so the different parties that were introduced were a bit vague. And the Sci-Fi level was a bit 'low' making it hard to suspend Disbelief.

On the other hand Stargate Continuum was complete awesome sauce. I can highly recommend that and won't spoil.

Still dead in the water

Sadly I have not been able to continue working on the comic. Much to my annoyance. Currently I'm digging through piles of paperwork for this research document.

In case anyone wonders, school has a great way of making a great idea stupidly difficult to complete.
